Surfing through them is a bit like being the proverbial fly going from one cubicle to another, or landing on someone’s ham sandwich in the lunchroom to eavesdrop on the conversation between two coworkers. The reviews are far more useful for the commentary than the numerical assessments. Reading reviews of a prospective employer on the site is now routine diligence for many candidates. It’s simple to bounce from the reviews of one firm to the rest in its industry. ![]() Responses are anonymous and every review is posted. ![]() Most serious, once some consultancies started impugning the character of workers who gave their employers bad marks and some of their clients started punishing that candor, a sizable proportion of employees decided they would either not participate or “ tell them what they want to hear.” Those of us who design and field employee surveys now must go to great lengths to assure workers that no one at their employers will see their individual responses. ![]()
